Description: AIDSinfo: Maraviroc, also known as Selzentry, is a chemokine receptor antagonist that acts as an entry inhibitor. It is designed to prevent HIV infection of CD4 cells by blocking chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5), a coreceptor necessary for HIV entry, from binding to HIV.

DailyMed: SELZENTRY is a CCR5 co-receptor antagonist indicated for combination antiretroviral treatment of adults infected with only CCR5-tropic HIV-1, who have evidence of viral replication and HIV-1 strains resistant to multiple antiretroviral agents. Tropism testing is required for the appropriate use of SELZENTRY.
